Privacy Policy
This policy explains what LezConnect collects, why, and what you can do about it. We have tried to write it in plain language, because a policy you cannot read is not consent.
Effective 9 September 2026
Who we are
LezConnect is operated by Lavender & Mayhem, LLC, a Louisiana company based in New Orleans, United States. We are responsible for the information described here. You can reach us at admin@lezconnect.app.
What we collect
Account
Your email address and a password. Passwords are hashed by our authentication provider and are never visible to us.
Profile
Your display name, username, pronouns, bio, profile photo, neighborhood, city, interests, and what you are here for. All of it is optional except a username and a display name, and all of it is visible to other signed-in members.
What you create
Posts, comments, likes, event RSVPs, groups you join or run, direct messages, club requests, and introductions. Direct messages are private between participants, but they are not end-to-end encrypted: we can access message content where it is necessary to investigate a report or to comply with the law.
Safety records
Accounts you block, and reports you file, including anything you write in a report.
Approximate location, only if you turn Mingling on
Mingling is switched off for the New Orleans pilot, so right now the app collects no location at all. There is no control to turn it on, and the app does not ask your phone for your position. The section below describes how it will work if and when we switch it on, and we will say so here before we do.
Device and technical data
Ordinary server log data such as IP address and request timestamps, which our hosting providers record as part of running the service. Push notifications are switched off for the pilot and no push token is stored; if we turn them on, a token would be kept for as long as you allow them.
How Mingling handles location
Mingling lets you see when other members who are also mingling are in your neighborhood. It is built so that we could not track you even if we wanted to.
- Your exact coordinates never leave your device. The operating system gives the app a precise fix. The app immediately snaps that fix to a fixed grid cell of roughly 153 by 153 metres and discards the precise value. Only the cell identifier is ever transmitted.
- We cannot calculate your distance or your direction. The finest question our servers can answer is whether two people are in the same cell. This is deliberate. Apps that broadcast a distance can be used to pinpoint someone by taking readings from three places, and we will not store the data that would make that possible.
- Nobody can look up where you are. Your cell is stored in a single row that only your own account can read. Other members never receive it. They are told only that a member is in the same cell as them.
- It expires in minutes. A cell counts as current for fifteen minutes, then stops matching.
- Turning it off deletes it. Switch Mingling off and the stored cell is removed.
The app never uses your location while it is closed. An earlier version of this policy said Mingling could optionally do so on Android. It cannot: the app no longer asks for that permission, and does not contain a way to grant it. If we ever want it back, it would take a new version of the app from the store, and this policy would say so first. Turning Mingling off stops all location access.
What we do not do
- We do not sell your personal information.
- We do not run advertising, and there are no ad networks or third-party analytics trackers in the app.
- We do not disclose your membership, your sexual orientation, or anything that could be inferred from your use of LezConnect, to advertisers or to data brokers.
- We do not use your posts or your messages to train AI models.
Who processes data for us
We use a small number of providers to run the service. They process data on our instructions only.
- Supabase — database, authentication, file storage and realtime updates.
- Vercel — hosting for the website.
- Expo, Apple and Google — delivery of push notifications to your device.
We may also disclose information where the law requires it, or where it is necessary to protect someone from harm.
Your choices
- See and change your profile and your content at any time in the app.
- Turn off Mingling, push notifications, or direct messages from people you have not connected with, in your settings.
- Delete your account, which removes your profile, posts, comments, RSVPs, messages and stored location cell.
- Request a copy of your data by emailing us.
Depending on where you live you may have additional rights, including access, correction, deletion, portability, and the right to object. Email admin@lezconnect.app and we will action it. We do not sell personal information, so there is nothing to opt out of on that front.
Safety and moderation
You can block any member, and report any account, post, comment or message. We review reports and may remove content, restrict features, or suspend accounts. Where we have removed someone for the safety of others, we keep a limited record so that the decision can be enforced.
How long we keep things
We keep your information while your account is open. When you delete your account it is removed from our live systems, and from routine backups as those age out. Location cells expire within minutes. Limited safety and enforcement records may be kept for longer where that is necessary to protect the community.
Age
LezConnect is for adults. You must be 18 or older to hold an account. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18, and we delete accounts that we learn belong to minors.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top, and we will tell you in the app before anything material takes effect.
